Traditional Wedding Cakes
As modern times seem to cover our deepest ancient desires, the traditional and long gone customs appear more and more surreal and unique among all the novelty that surrounds us. That is a very paradoxical statement, but it is very true. More and more old-fashioned designs enter our hearts once again, forcing us to choose them over contemporary sophisticated and whimsical trends.
For example, a traditional wedding cake is something that one can’t refuse when it comes to the meanings and beliefs that lie behind a classic wedding cake. A traditional wedding cake is usually extremely white, adorned here and there with a little color, but nothing too extravagant and bold. For a simple, formal and conventional elegant wedding day, a cake like that is perfect. Even more, there are many couples who seem to like simplicity and its waves more and more each day. That is how brides and grooms turn their heads back to search for a beautiful, classy and “innocent” traditional wedding cake.

In today’s urge and need to buy everything that is luxurious, colored and complex, the traditional wedding cake is able to bring a soft, relaxed and touch of easiness, decency and modesty. In fact, the traditional wedding cake was never a boring, usual and dull design for a wedding desert because it always managed to express better the innocence, the chastity, the purity, love and other delicate feelings that a couple’s wedding can evoke. The white traditional wedding cake is still very popular and fashionable these days, especially among those who appreciated the era of classicism and have a true respect for their cultures and ancient customs.

The white traditional wedding theme dates since the Queen Victoria’s wedding, when everything was white, classy, symbolic and beautiful. In fact, ever since that famous wedding, the white became a trend among modern brides and grooms.
The traditional wedding cake was as white as the wedding dress and very tall and layered. The toppers are usually expressing a classic bride and the groom figure or a floral motif. A traditional wedding cake must look simple, elegant, formal, lovely and bridal despite all the novelty decoration that a wedding cake designer can incorporate in it. The final picture has to evoke a timeless and romantic apparition and has to avoid any intricate design, shape and detailed decorative elements.
The most common and used ingredient or flavors for the traditional wedding cake topper were and still are the flowers or the fruits. But any other flavor can be used in creating a beautiful and tasty traditional wedding cake. One can choose a chocolate or a vanilla traditional wedding cake, or maybe some exotic flavors such as coconuts, mango, banana or pineapple.

I have never thought about traditions at my wedding, but the white traditional wedding theme dates since the Queen Victoria’s wedding, when everything was white, classy, symbolic, beautiful and I can add – UNIQUE. At that time, a Victorian wedding was unique and different from others.
