Size Of Wedding Cakes

Every couple needs some guidance when it comes to wedding cake affairs keeping in mind that every guest needs to be taken care of properly. The most common question that brides and grooms ask when it comes to wedding cakes is: how large should my wedding cake be? Well, there are lots of aspects that need to be considered when purchasing for a wedding cake.

Everyone agrees that the size of the wedding cake does matter! The wedding cake size is usually determined depending on several important factors, such as the number of the wedding guests, the wedding cake’s type and filling or the style and theme of the wedding. Also one has to figure out whether the wedding cake is going to be the only desert served at the wedding because in this case the couple will definitely need a larger cake. Another aspect that brides and grooms need to be attentive with is the wedding cake serving’s time.

For instance, if the cake is going to be served after the wedding lunch or dinner is over then you could serve a small wedding cake, mini wedding cakes, cupcake wedding cakes, pies, fruit tarts or just have some delicious and light alternatives such as candy bars, truffles or Mexican cookies. No matter what type of wedding cake you choose for your wedding you have to make sure that each of your wedding attendants is going to receive a generous slice of wedding cake.

Avoid those shameful situations when you don’t have enough cake to serve all your guests. As we said, the style, the number of the guests and the wedding cake’s design are important things that need to be taken into account when setting the size of the cake. If the wedding affair you’re planning is going to be huge, elaborated, sophisticated, extravagant, expensive or royal, choose a layered wedding cake, about seven or eight tiers.

On the other hand, if the wedding is going to be smaller, simpler and more casual but still elegant, choose a two layer round wedding cake. The most common cake slice sizes start from four inches high and two inches wide. This is the case of those round wedding cakes that have usually two layers.

To help you get a wider picture of that, you should know that a six inch pan usually is about to serve at least 12 slices, an eight inch pan about 20 slices, a ten inch pan can be sliced in 36 pieces, a twelve inch pan usually serves about 46 slices, a fourteen inch pan 76 slices, a sixteen inch pan 92, an eighteen serves 110 while a twenty inch pan can serve 120 guests.

But just to be sure that none of your guest or uninvited guest will be left aside from the countdown it would be better for you to estimate a larger wedding cake that will serve more of them. There are some cases when a couple of guests that were invited in the last minute will actually show at the wedding party and they will also want to taste a slice of cake.
