Scottish Wedding Cake Toppers

Marriage is very important in all societies and there are a lot of traditions about its celebration. Here are some of the traditions that took place during a wedding in Scotland. Some of them exist also  today, but are found in many parts of the world as a result of emigration. Prophets
Although many young people married locally, they were taught since they were small to predict how  will be their partner. Hence the custom of sending cards for Valentine’s Day. The envelopes are submitted today with funny sentences such as “Mr. postman do not be late send the card to the girl that I’ll marry “.

Dowry
It is assumed that the bride had to have bed linen, blankets, table linen and bedroom furniture to bring to her new home. Also cover, father of the bride should give her a dowry consisting of cattle, sheep or money. Landowners often made their debt to ensure a larger dowry to the bride, especially if the dowry makes the girl attractive.

Gifts
Friends and relatives offer gifts to help the newlyweds to equip their new home. The world shrinks to unpack gifts as at a show.

Wedding
Wedding without gifts was when the bride’s father was paying the food and drink and the dance party continues in the night with a lot of alcohol. A wedding with gift means that each guest bring something to eat and drink, and such party may hold more than one day.

Grooms wedding cake
Formerly called the wedding cake was homemade and was lower by-law. It was broke overhead of the bride and if it breaks into small pieces, then the marriage was a fruitful one. The custom by which the bride must cut the wedding  cake along with son is recently cut because before just her cut it. Everyone should receive a piece, and those who brought gifts were given for home too. A modern custom is to have a scottish wedding cake topper if you are from Scotland and traditions are an important element in your life.

Wedding dresses
The white colorof the wedding dress was introduced by Queen Victoria. Until then any color of the dress was accepted, except for green (the color of fairies) and black (mourning). Tradition whereby a bride should wear something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue is still preserved today.

Places to celebrate marriage
Marriage ceremony may take place in any part of the country where is a church or even a priest, so wedding are possible on top of a mountain or wedding on a boat out at sea, but the civil marriage can take place only at the Civil Status Office.
