Goth Wedding Cakes

Do you remember gothic fashion from old times? It is al about the long, dark colored gowns, corsets, black hair, dark make-up, white pale skin. And spiders, skulls, candles, black magic, chains and other creepy things. But it’s about elegance too, along with mystery that askes to be discovered.

Gothic weddings do exist. You probably had no idea, but people who like gothic music and gothic fashion decide to have a “traditional” gothic wedding, in all its aspects: outfits, make-up, hairstyles, decorations and of course, the wedding cake.

I bet you never saw wedding cakes like these. It is a big morbid to see wedding cakes colored in black or with decorations like spiderwebs and cake toppers like skulls. Most prefered colors for the frostings are black and red, the color that gothic fashion uses most (along with other dark colors). There is no specific design for goth wedding cakes. Whatever element that is connected with this type of fashion can be used as a decoration for the cake.

Also, scenes from different movies or animations, like Corpse Bride or Frankenstein can be used for goth wedding cakes, because they have stories that are gloomy and the whole setting and characters match with the gothic style. Other decorations used are the roses, preferably red and a bit wilted, reminding of the decadence of gothic style and all its excentricity. Most common cake toppers are using characters from Corpse Bride, Frankenstein or just simple brides and grooms, dressed in the manner of gothic.

The complexity of detail in gothic fashion is sometimes remarkable. Because it uses lace, besides satin and other fabrics, confectioners tried to design cakes with lace decorations. Easy to say, hard to do. Sometimes, the delicacy of lace gives confectioners a hard time, but that is why they are called artists: they manage in each and every situation and take each challange seriously. Therefore, the cakes are finished remarkably, with a tone of perfection. Just how a goth wedding cake should look.

Would you dare have a black and white wedding cake? Moreover, accompanied by spiders and wilted roses? Or haunted castles? Creepy, I know. But original at least. Your guests will surely be shocked when they see the cake, because these are not normal decorations for wedding cakes, which are supposed to look happy and full of light from the bright colored frostings. But hey, who are we to judge?

As I said, it’s at least original and interesting too. Why not approach such an idea? Think it over, you might reconsider. If you have an elegant wedding ceremony, a goth wedding cake might be approapriate through its delicate lace decorations, without the skulls and spiderwebs though. Never say never, you might just find this design of wedding cake as pleasent as others!

There has to be a balance in life, life and death are connected through the yin/ yang. I have black as one of my primary colors… along with other spring colors. WHY are you even on this site? Bored and need to bitch?

Yeah, have to agree with Alex. Dont be such a C U Next Tuesday. My wedding cake is black. In fact, my weddings theme is dark and morbid because I am an embalmer! So stop being a judgemental bitch. Thanks.
