Decorated Wedding Cakes

With so many optional pre-made and decorated wedding cake designs out there, some brides and grooms may feel just not completely satisfied with them or can’t find the perfect wedding cake to suit their wedding theme, style, color-scheme, amplitude, number of guests and location

That is why so many or modern brides and grooms finally decide to call on a wedding cake designer to make them a customize wedding cake or to buy a white plain simple wedding cake that can be decorated at home using their own imagination, skills and vision. The cost of a personalized wedding cake can sometimes exceed the price of an already decorated wedding cake but this doesn’t seem to mind a certain category of wealthy couples. But not all brides and grooms have a generous wedding budget that can allow them to have a custom-made wedding cake or a too elaborated, intricate, fancy and extravagant wedding cake.

In fact, most of couples ready to get married are dealing with a tight budget. But even this “small” problem has a great solution. As we said before, buying a plain white wedding cake can be a very inspired and efficient way to personalize your own wedding cake at home, in your own kitchen. Don’t worry about the fact that you aren’t prepared or don’t have the necessary skills to decorate a wedding cake.

You can always call on your mother, your grandmother, your sister, your aunt or any other female relative that knows how to handle sweets and cakes or just ask a neighbor cake maker to do the job for you. He won’t charge you much. Well, at least not as much as a pre-made already decorated wedding cake should cost you. But if you have the necessary time, energy, will and minimal skills to do it, try a couple of decorative motifs on different fictive cakes and practice your hand. Afterwards you can decorate your own wedding cake.

If you are skeptical about buying a regular plain white wedding cake and then ‘customize” it with your own ideas, remember that any simple, dull, booing, classic and usual white wedding cake can be easily transformed into a real piece of art. Just picture the image of the most suitable wedding cake in your mind and figure out what decorative elements you are going to need to start the decoration process. If you are planning a beach wedding, use seashells, starfish, pearls, beadings, sequins, rhinestones, ribbons, bows, mini castles, umbrellas, exotic flowers, brown sugar for the sand and lots of cream to create a sea foam illusion.

For a summery outdoor wedding use fresh natural seasonal flowers and grass: tulips, daises, daffodils, narcissus, peonies or cherry blooms to create delicate motifs or a draping cascading flowered illusion. A winter wedding cake can be decorated with strawberries, cones, pines, stars or seasonal leafs, crystal, silver or gold motifs, using blue, white, red, gold, orange, burgundy, purple or pink colors.
