Classic Wedding Cake Toppers

A wedding cake can be the most delicious symbol of the wedding party, but in earlier times, the custom has been slightly different. Wheat, symbolizing fertility, was baked in cakes which were then given to all the guests to throw with them into the bride. The tradition continues today in the form of rice or confetti thrown in the newlywed couple. When the bride and groom cut the wedding cake, they divide the marital happiness in the same way that couples did centuries ago.

In the recent past, classic wedding cakes consist of a simple cake, white, decorated with white frosting and with a plastic bride and a groom as toppers, nowadays it is usually very retro. While traditions are very good, in this new millennium the wedding cake may reflect a unique statement of your own individuality.

When you start looking for the wedding cake expect to discover unimagined creations until now. You will see beautifully decorated cakes and arranged so that you will find it difficult to cut them. Then there is the sample of the cake. Be very careful! Wedding cakes are very delicious and tasty – if not careful it can happen not to fit in the wedding attire. Cakes may have different tastes, from strawberries with whipped cream frosting, chocolate cream cheese or nuts. Remember the taste and flavor of your choice will reflect your style.

The toppers for the wedding cake should not be overlooked. The famous and classic pair of plastic bride and groom, have been replaced, today, by a joke and fancy or an elegant custom cake. Almost anything goes, from blown glass figurines or porcelain, painted and dressed like a bride and a groom, to ornaments representing an occupation or a hobby of the couple. If you’re more traditional or you want a classic wedding, an imitation of fresh flowers that are used for the wedding, cake is a good choice. As in every aspect of the wedding ,the toppers on cake should reflect thepersonality of the couple that is representing.

The first step in creating the cake is to find a great pastry chef who is specialized in wedding cakes. This must be done before 6 to 8 months of wedding date. Some catering companies offer wedding cakes too and thus becomes the easiest option to buy the cake. Your idea related to the perfect cake can be different from that of the confectioner. When you meet with the confectioner would be a great idea to have clippings from magazines or books highlighting some of your favorite features about the wedding cake. Describe the degree of formality, the estimated number of guests, as well as colors and flowers from your wedding.

If you’ve already finished the menu or have an idea what it will contain, take care to share this information to the confectionery, for the flavors not to double. Most confectioners have a portfolio with a wide variety of classic wedding cakes and they can offer you a list of references. Remember that the cake has a price separately from the menu itself. Price varies depending on the ingredients used and the complexity of the decorations. If the cost of the cake is a problem, opt for a small wedding cake and decorated less, accompanied by plates of smaller cakes made of the same flavor. The taste will be the same, but the price will be lower.
