Calla Lilies On Wedding Cakes




When bakers use flowers in their art of decorating wedding cakes they need to know something about the meaning of the flowers and use their symbolism in the artistic design. Flower symbolism began with many ancient religions and it was continued in the religious art of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, reaching its highest in the Victorian Era. Flowers were symbolically related to ancient deities such as Venus, Diana, Jupiter and Apollo. The Renaissance period gave birth to the belief that nature is a reflection of the divine.

Due to their symbolic meaning and spiritual embodiment flowers were included in many religious artistic manifestations as well as decors in gardens arrangements or motifs printed in fabrics.  The use of the symbolic meaning of flowers to reflect emotions reached a high degree during the Victorian times. But unfortunately the displaying plainly the emotions, wishes and thoughts was restricted between men and women. That is why their inner feelings were found the reflection in the flower symbolism.

One of the most endeared flowers that couples choose for decorating their wedding cake is calla Lily flower. Its symbolism is associated with magnificent beauty. These flowers have their origins in Southern Africa and after being discovered they became a real attraction due to their elegant and refine aspect.

Calla Lily wedding cakes are artistic and graceful in their presentation and often are the big attraction of a wedding ceremony. Their majestic way of showing themselves off makes them look royal and makes them be the perfect embellishment for any wedding cake.

The most preferred  calla lilies wedding cakes are the ones using the white colored calla lily, but they can also come in different colors: cream, green, yellow to gold, peach to orange, shades of pink, red and burgundy, violet to deep purple and even black.
