Times have changed; we have to watch our budget even for our weddings. More people are no longer willing to spend lots of money on the wedding. After all the wedding is just as dreamy as you feel it to be. You don’t need to pay lots of money to have your dream wedding. You just need to be creative and resourceful. And nowhere better could you use being creative and resourceful than with your wedding cake.

Artificial wedding cakes are the best way to cut down on your costs for the wedding cake. That doesn’t mean you’re supposed to have an entirely artificial cardboard cake. Not at all. There are quite a few ideas you could use. For instance if you prefer a nice tall tiered cake, you can have a fake bottom tier, which is also the biggest, so that will cut the price down some. Or you could have the bottom tier made out of real wedding cake and the top tiers fake.

Although it may sound funny you can rent a cake. Some bakers will rent out a wedding cake for you to cut at the wedding and then serve a different, simpler cake that you have either bought or baked yourself or had baked for you by a friend.

The budget is not the only reason why people would choose a wedding cake these days. Another few reasons make an artificial wedding cake the perfect choice for you own wedding. If you’re wedding will be held outdoors, you will not have to worry about heat or bugs. Some couples prefer to serve a special desert to their guests, but they also want to keep the tradition of cutting the cake, so a fake cake seems the ideal choice.

Tiered cakes are often too large for the number of guests at the wedding, so having at least one fake tier is really cost effective. Fake cakes are definitely easier to handle, since they are lighter. However fake cakes can have real decorations, so they still need to be handled with care. And of course some of us just happen to have a dream cake, something we’ve seen or imagined and thought to be perfect for our own wedding. But the dream cake is often too big or simply too expensive so we can have our fake dream wedding cake!

The price of an artificial wedding cake can sometimes be just as high as that of a real cake. The reason for that is that prices are often set by the time spent to make the cake. If you have a fake cake, but require very complex real decorations, your cake might prove to be just as expensive as the real one, so give all of this some thought before you decide.
